Painting Leaves in your Sketchbook
A cozy and colourful fall craft.
Press and paint leaves in your sketchbook this fall by following this quick and easy guide!
1. Go outside and find some leaves that look nice to you. The colour of the leaf isn't too important here since we'll be painting on them very soon, so make your choices based on how much you like the shape of the leaves. Once you have a few bring them home and be sure to wash and dry them before use.
2. Now that we have our leaves prepped it's time to gather the rest of our materials, get yourself some brushes, palettes, paints and a sketchbook. You can find a list of all the products used in the video listed below this guide.
3. Let's begin by applying a thin coat of paint on one side of our leaf, place the leaf paint side down onto the paper in your sketchbook. Then close the book and applying pressure on top of the sketchbook to press the leaf. After a few seconds open it back up and carefully peel away the leaf. You will now be left with the leaf's design on your paper. Repeat this process as many times as you want!
4. (optional) paint your own leaf patterns and designs on top of the pressed leaves designs you made earlier. This will add layering to your piece.
