Gesture Drawing

Start your drawing session off right with gesture drawings. Gesture drawing is a quick one minute and two minute exercise that stimulates your brain. The goal is not to finish the drawing, but to capture the lines of action in the pose - or capturing the gesture!

Here are some examples of one minute gesture drawings. We can see the various lines of actions going through the body, specifically through the spine, arms and legs.

Here is an example of a two minute gesture drawing. As you can see there can be a huge difference towards having an extra minute. 

Even if you only get the initial lines of actions down, you're still getting the essentials of drawing! So have fun with it! practice with exaggeration and pushing the contrapposto of the body!
